DIY Project: Build Yourself an iMacPad

What? Are you really planning to be bored all weekend? Perhaps you should consider transforming your computer into an iMac/iPad hybrid system. It may appear somewhat pointless at first (you know, with the whole removing of portability factor and all), this clever DIY project makes use of a simple iMac stand, some hacking, and a little bit of ingenuity to create a fabulous platform for computing in the kitchen or as an ultra-portable desktop station.

The idea itself is pretty simple: Grab a trashed iMac stand, build up an apparatus for mounting the iPad, and voila! Instant iMacPad.

The instructions found over at are fairly in-depth for what you need to do. If you do plan on taking on the project, be sure you have all the stuff required before jumping in. This includes the suggested 3mm Styrene sheets, leather, epoxy resin, hot glue, a boxercutter/Stanley knife, and a clamp, in addition to the iMac stand we're sure you can find for fairly cheap on eBay.

If the end result is anything close to what Instructable member gmjhowe has pulled off, we're sure the compliments/flamers will surely start coming your way in no time.

Start building yours now!
