After 21 months of construction, 360 State Street, Connecticut's largest and greenest residential development, is set to open its doors in just over one week. The building boasts a 400 kW fuel cell, the largest of its kind to operate in a residential building and which will provide nearly 100% of the building's thermal energy and reduce its carbon footprint by 50%.

Other notable green features include an energy-use web page with remote programming for each apartment, elevators that recapture their energy, electric car charging stations, and a half-acre green roof with rainwater harvesting and irrigation system. The building is set to achieve LEED platinum status, the first of its kind to be recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council in the Pilot Neighborhood Development Program for "exemplifying the principles of smart growth, urbanism, and green design prior to, during and post-construction."
